In a significant recognition of the role played by Urdu media in society, Urdu daily Taasir was felicitated by State Minister for Rural Development and Municipal Affairs, Umesh Rai, at a special ceremony held in Howrah. The event brought together journalists, social activists, community leaders, and distinguished guests who gathered to celebrate the newspaper’s contribution to journalism and public awareness.
Among those present on the occasion were Taasir‘s State Bureau Chief and senior journalist Md Nayeem, President of the West Bengal Momin Ansar Sabha Abdul Qaiyum Ansari, Amarjeet Singh, journalist Md Imran, and several other eminent personalities from different walks of life.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Umesh Rai praised the efforts of Taasir in promoting responsible journalism and ensuring that important social, cultural, and public issues reach the masses through the Urdu language. He emphasized that regional and language-based newspapers play a vital role in strengthening democracy by giving voice to diverse communities and highlighting grassroots concerns.
The speakers at the event underlined the historic significance of Urdu journalism and its contribution to shaping public opinion, preserving literary traditions, and fostering communal harmony. They noted that newspapers like Taasir continue to serve as a bridge between society and administration by delivering credible news and encouraging constructive public discourse.
