In a significant step towards empowering underprivileged children through art and culture, the DASHOBHUJA initiative, founded by Shimanti Das, has launched a special dance education program aimed at nurturing talent, building confidence, and creating pathways for self-reliance among children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The program will be led by internationally acclaimed Odissi dancer Avirup Sengupta, who has earned recognition for his work in promoting dance education and inclusion. Known for his long-standing engagement with specially-abled children, Sengupta also runs a dedicated dance academy focused on providing artistic opportunities to children with special needs.
Speaking on the occasion, organizers highlighted that the initiative seeks to use the transformative power of dance not only as a medium of artistic expression but also as a tool for social empowerment and personal development.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Papiya Adhikari and Dr. Madhuchanda Kar as special guests. Both praised the initiative for promoting inclusivity, skill development, and community upliftment through cultural education.
Founded under the banner of the Joyjeet Das Memorial School, DASHOBHUJA reflects the vision of Shimanti Das to create meaningful opportunities for children from underserved communities. The event also witnessed the felicitation of several distinguished personalities for their notable contributions to society.
With a strong focus on education, culture, and creativity, the DASHOBHUJA initiative aims to help young learners discover their potential, develop life skills, and build a brighter, more independent future through the performing arts.
