
Kolkata, 7 December 2025: The Lions Club of Kolkata Grand, District 322B1, successfully hosted the second edition of its flagship awareness walkathon — Lionathon 2.0: We Serve – Walk to Serve — with remarkable public participation and a powerful call to action for childhood cancer awareness.
The walk attracted close to 1,500 spirited participants, including school and college students, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, fitness enthusiasts, corporate teams, and volunteers. Beginning at Deshapriya Park, the route covered major city intersections such as Southern Avenue, Golpark Crossing, Gariahat, and Sarat Bose Road before concluding at Lions Children Corner. Participants carried awareness placards, slogans, and messages promoting early detection, preventive healthcare, and community support for young cancer patients.
Lion A.P. Singh, International President, Lions Clubs International, presided over the event as Chief Guest and lauded the initiative:
“Lionathon 2.0 stands as a powerful symbol of inclusion, compassion, and collective responsibility. Today, more than 1,500 participants walked together to support children fighting cancer. This event strengthens awareness and raises vital funds for treatment and care.”
Lion Ajit Baid, President, Lions Club of Kolkata Grand, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming turnout:

Lion Neetu Baid, Chairperson, reiterated the club’s ongoing commitment:
“We reaffirm our pledge to provide free cervical vaccinations to 1,000 underprivileged children and continue supporting preventive healthcare initiatives.”
Lion Sushil Soni, Secretary, emphasized the emotional significance of the event:
“Every step taken today represents hope. We stand together so that no child has to fight cancer alone.”
