New Patrol Variant Equipped with Police-Specific Technology Marks a Major Step Towards Electric Mobility in Law Enforcement
Kolkata, September 18, 2026: Kolkata Police has taken a significant step towards modernising its mobility infrastructure with the induction of 183 Ultraviolette X-47 ‘Skyforce’ electric motorcycles into its fleet. The official handover ceremony was held at Lalbazar Police Headquarters, marking one of the largest deployments of electric motorcycles by an Indian police force.
The X-47 ‘Skyforce’ has been introduced as a dedicated Patrol Variant, specifically developed and configured to meet the operational requirements of police personnel. With this deployment, Ultraviolette becomes the first electric two-wheeler manufacturer by scale to have its motorcycles inducted into the Kolkata Police fleet.
The motorcycles have been equipped with an augmented electronics architecture to support a range of police-duty equipment, including sirens, hooters, Public Address (PA) systems, LED blinkers, decals, microphone holders, walkie-talkie holders and side panniers. The fleet underwent extensive testing ahead of the formal handover to ensure its readiness for operational deployment.
Speaking on the occasion, Narayan Subramaniam, CEO & Co-founder of Ultraviolette, said the company was honoured to introduce the X-47 ‘Skyforce’ as a purpose-developed tactical motorcycle for police forces. He described the deployment as a landmark moment for Ultraviolette and said the company takes pride in its technology being used to support police personnel in their everyday duties.
He further said that the X-47 ‘Skyforce’ has been designed to adapt to diverse law-enforcement requirements and provide officers with mobility that combines technology, practicality and operational capability. He also thanked Kolkata Police for placing its trust in the company.
The X-47 ‘Skyforce’ Patrol Variant has been configured for real-world policing rather than ceremonial use. Its design combines the agility of a motorcycle with the versatility required for day-to-day operations in a busy urban environment.
Built around Ultraviolette’s performance-focused engineering, the X-47 offers a combination of high-speed capability, manoeuvrability, long-range usability and practicality. Its crossover architecture is designed to help officers navigate varied urban conditions while carrying essential operational equipment.
The induction also reflects the growing focus on technology-led modernisation within law enforcement. The deployment of electric motorcycles provides Kolkata Police with an opportunity to explore a new generation of connected and purpose-built mobility while contributing to the broader shift towards sustainable urban transportation.
