State Ministers Visit Gangasagar Mela, Review Arrangements and Interact with Pilgrims

Amid the ongoing grand Gangasagar Mela, one of the largest religious congregations in the country, several senior ministers of the West Bengal government visited the sacred pilgrimage site on Tuesday to review preparations and ensure the safety, convenience and overall well-being of millions of devotees arriving from across India and abroad.

Upon their arrival at the mela grounds, the visiting ministers were accorded a warm welcome by social worker Abdul Salam. The delegation included State Ministers Aroop Biswas, Sujit Bose, Manas Bhuiyan and Pulak Roy, along with Member of Parliament Bapi Haldar, Giasuddin Molla, local elected representatives, political leaders and senior administrative officials.

During the visit, the ministers held direct interactions with pilgrims, patiently listening to their concerns and gathering on-ground feedback regarding facilities and services. They undertook a comprehensive inspection of key arrangements, including accommodation, food distribution, sanitation, drinking water supply, electricity, transportation and security measures.

The ministers instructed officials of the concerned departments to ensure that pilgrims face no inconvenience during their stay at the mela. Special emphasis was laid on cleanliness, uninterrupted essential services and crowd management, given the massive influx of devotees during the auspicious occasion.

Addressing the media, the ministers stated that the Gangasagar Mela holds immense significance for the state government and that the comfort and safety of every pilgrim remains its top priority. They подчеркed that Gangasagar is not merely a religious gathering, but a powerful symbol of Bengal’s rich cultural heritage, spiritual traditions and communal harmony. The government, they said, is deploying all necessary resources to ensure the mela is conducted in a peaceful, orderly and dignified manner.

Pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and appreciated the presence of ministers and senior officials at the ground level, noting that it boosted their confidence and sense of security. Police personnel, administrative staff and volunteers are working round the clock to facilitate smooth conduct of the mela and assist devotees.

According to the state government, comprehensive emergency preparedness measures are also in place. Medical teams, fire services and security forces have been deployed in full strength and remain on high alert to handle any exigency during the course of the mela.

The Gangasagar Mela continues to witness a steady flow of pilgrims, with the administration maintaining strict vigilance and coordination to ensure that the centuries-old spiritual tradition concludes smoothly and safely.
