Kolkata High Court Mediation Committee Holds Awareness Session on Child Rights and Parenting Plans

Kolkata, August 2: The Mediation and Conciliation Committee of the Kolkata High Court on Saturday organized an orientation session for over 100 trained mediators on the theme “Child Visitation Rights, Guardianship Guidelines, and Parenting Plans.” The programme was conducted in collaboration with Ayushman Initiative for Child Rights at the Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das Memorial Auditorium within the Kolkata High Court premises.

The session commenced with a welcome address by Sudip Banerjee, Member Secretary of the Mediation and Conciliation Committee. The event was attended by former Kolkata High Court judges Justice Madhumati Mitra and Justice Toufique Uddin, along with several distinguished legal professionals and mediators.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Subhashis Muhuri, Officer-in-Charge of the Mediation and Conciliation Committee, said that the programme focused on strengthening mediators’ understanding of the legal framework surrounding child rights and guardianship. He emphasized that such training plays a crucial role in promoting amicable settlements and reducing the backlog of pending family disputes through effective mediation.

The event was efficiently coordinated by the Mediation Committee staff, including Mohammad Naushad, Akbar Ali, Suman Das, Supriya Banik, Sayan Chatterjee, and Kaushik Koley, whose efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the programme.
