Kolkata, June 29, 2026: In a major step towards ensuring affordable and accessible kidney healthcare, The Kidney Care Society on Sunday inaugurated the Sampa Bose Memorial Charitable Renal Care & Research Centre near Science City, Kolkata. The state-of-the-art charitable facility aims to provide high-quality renal treatment to underprivileged patients across West Bengal.
The centre has been established following the generous donation of the six-storied Pratidin Media building by noted industrialist and philanthropist Swapan Sadhan “Tutu” Bose, in memory of his late wife Sampa Bose, whose courageous battle with Chronic Kidney Disease inspired the creation of the institution. The initiative carries a powerful message that no patient should be denied life-saving kidney treatment due to financial hardship.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of several eminent personalities, including Locket Chatterjee, General Secretary of BJP West Bengal; Swami Sparshananda Ji Maharaj of Ramakrishna Mission; veteran actor Sabyasachi Chakrabarty; actress Mithu Chakraborty; Dr. Pradip Mitra, former Director of Medical Education, Government of West Bengal; Tamoghna Ghosh, BJP North Kolkata District President; industrialists and trustees Srinjoy Bose and Shoumik Bose; renowned nephrologist Dr. Pratim Sengupta, President of The Kidney Care Society and MD & CEO of Nephro Care India Ltd.; Debashis Dutta, President of Mohun Bagan Club, along with several distinguished guests.
With Chronic Kidney Disease rapidly emerging as one of India’s fastest-growing health challenges, the newly inaugurated centre seeks to bridge the gap in affordable renal healthcare by offering advanced dialysis services, modern diagnostics, critical care, pharmacy support, and comprehensive patient care under one roof. The initiative reflects The Kidney Care Society’s vision of “Good Renal Health for All.”

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Pratim Sengupta said, “Today, we are not merely inaugurating a hospital—we are beginning a movement towards equitable kidney care. Built on compassion and driven by purpose, this centre reflects our unwavering commitment that every patient deserves dignity, quality treatment, and hope, irrespective of financial circumstances.”
Speaking on the occasion, Srinjoy Bose said, “The launch of the Sampa Bose Memorial Charitable Renal Care & Research Centre marks the beginning of a transformative journey in affordable kidney care. Starting with an 18-bed Advanced Day Care Dialysis Unit supported by critical care, diagnostics, pharmacy, and specialist services, the centre will eventually expand into a 50-bed charitable renal hospital with a world-class research laboratory and integrated wellness facilities, creating a lasting legacy of compassion, innovation, and hope.”
Founded in 2012, The Kidney Care Society is a Kolkata-based non-profit organisation dedicated to kidney disease awareness, prevention, research, and ensuring affordable, quality renal healthcare. Under the leadership of Dr. Pratim Sengupta, the organisation continues to work towards its mission of delivering “Good Renal Health for All.”
