Kolkata, November 2, 2026: AU Small Finance Bank (AU SFB) has kicked off the 27th season of Business Today Golf 2026-27 in Kolkata, marking the beginning of an eight-city championship. The opening leg was held on October 31 at the iconic Tollygunge Club, bringing together corporate leaders, entrepreneurs and business professionals for a day of sport, networking and meaningful conversations. AU Small Finance Bank is the Presenting Partner of the championship.
Kolkata was chosen as the opening destination owing to its rich golfing heritage and longstanding association with business and social culture. Established in 1829, the Royal Calcutta Golf Club is widely regarded as the oldest golf club outside the British Isles. Building on this legacy, Business Today Golf provides a contemporary platform for corporate leaders and entrepreneurs to connect through their shared passion for the sport.

Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Tibrewal, Deputy CEO – Retail Banking, AU Small Finance Bank, said, “Golf brings together focus, discipline and camaraderie, while creating a natural setting for meaningful conversations and relationships. AU Small Finance Bank is delighted to partner with Business Today Golf for its 27th season. Kolkata has a rich legacy of enterprise and a deep association with golf, making it a fitting city to begin this journey. As AU SFB deepens its presence across the region, we look forward to building stronger connections with businesses, entrepreneurs and professionals.”
The championship also reflects AU SFB’s growing focus on Eastern India. The Bank currently operates 36 branches across the Eastern region, including 24 in Kolkata, and plans to add 23 more branches across the region this year. The Bank is also witnessing encouraging customer traction in Savings Accounts and Credit Cards, highlighting Kolkata’s growing importance as a key business and retail market. Each city edition is expected to attract around 90–120 participants. Following Kolkata, the championship will travel to Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Gurugram, Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, concluding in March 2027. Through this initiative, AU SFB aims to strengthen its engagement with India’s corporate and entrepreneurial communities across major business centres.
