Science-backed wellness initiative rewards healthy lifestyle choices with enhanced benefits, easier activity targets and life protection

Kolkata, November 2026: Tata AIA Life Insurance has relaunched its enhanced Tata AIA Vitality wellness programme, designed to encourage healthier lifestyles and help customers potentially add up to five years to their life expectancy through consistent, everyday health habits.

Built on science-led research, the programme integrates wellness with life insurance protection, rewarding customers for activities such as walking, exercising, maintaining healthy sleep patterns and undergoing regular health check-ups.

The initiative is based on global Vitality research, including a seven-year study involving approximately 4.65 lakh members, peer-reviewed by the London School of Economics. The study found that individuals who transitioned from an inactive to an active lifestyle could reduce their risk of death by up to 57%, potentially gaining up to five additional years of life expectancy. Even those who remained physically active for just one or two days a week experienced significant benefits.

Since introducing Vitality in India in 2022, Tata AIA has continued to strengthen its wellness proposition. The latest version focuses on making healthy living more accessible through lower activity targets, improved health tracking and enhanced rewards.

A Holistic Approach to Health and Longevity

Tata AIA Vitality encourages customers to adopt sustainable lifestyle changes through four key wellness pillars: regular physical activity, preventive health check-ups, mental well-being assessments and personalised health guidance.

One of its key features is Vitality Age, which compares a customer’s estimated body age with their actual age, helping them monitor improvements in their overall health as they develop healthier habits.

The programme also rewards customers from the very beginning. Members can access discounts on athleisure products, footwear, fitness wearables and gym memberships through partners such as Decathlon, Puma, Google, FitPass and cult.fit.

Lower Step Targets and Enhanced Rewards

In a move to encourage greater participation, Tata AIA has reduced the daily step target for earning activity points from 7,500 to 5,000 steps. Members can earn points through walking, workouts and preventive health activities, progressing through four Vitality Status levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

Customers can also benefit from premium discounts at policy renewal based on their Vitality Status. The relaunched programme introduces enhanced renewal premium discounts, improved Health Connect integration for tracking steps and heart rate, and more immediate customer rewards.

Wellness and Protection Go Hand in Hand

Commenting on the launch, Sujeet Kothare, Chief Business Officer – Proprietary Business, Propositions & Marketing, Tata AIA Life Insurance, said, “We believe the future of insurance lies in prevention as much as protection. Tata AIA Vitality Health goes beyond traditional health coverage by encouraging healthier behaviours through a science-based wellness programme that rewards progress and positive habits. By integrating wellness with protection, we are helping individuals and families build healthier lives while strengthening their financial resilience.”

Personalised Wellness for Every Stage of Life

The programme is designed to address the changing health and wellness priorities of customers across different stages of life.

For younger customers, it converts existing fitness routines, exercise habits and nutritional choices into meaningful rewards. Couples are encouraged to motivate each other and develop healthier routines together, while families can use engaging experiences to make wellness a shared activity for parents and children.

For customers approaching retirement and those already in their post-retirement years, the programme focuses on healthier ageing, active living and maintaining independence, helping them make the most of their later years.

Through its personalised approach, Tata AIA Vitality aims to make wellness an ongoing part of everyday life rather than a one-time health goal.

By combining scientific research, lifestyle incentives and insurance protection, Tata AIA Life Insurance is seeking to strengthen the connection between preventive healthcare and financial security, encouraging customers to make healthier choices for a longer and better quality of life.

Note: The potential five-year increase in life expectancy is based on Vitality UK research and is not a guaranteed individual outcome. Actual results may vary.
