Kolkata, October 7, 2026: NIF Global Saltlake, the Platinum Centre of India and a Centre of Excellence with over three decades of expertise in fashion and interior design, presented AGOMONI 2026, a vibrant student-led fashion showcase celebrating creativity, culture, individuality and self-expression.
The showcase featured five distinctive fashion sequences by students of the Fashion Design Department, each presenting a unique concept, visual identity and narrative. Through innovative silhouettes, traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design language, the students transformed their creative ideas into compelling fashion statements.
The five collections included AKAAR, DRAPED POWER, ASTITWA, NOCTURNAL DRIFTERS and ROOH-E-PANKH, each exploring a different theme and aesthetic.
AKAAR drew inspiration from abstract folk art, blending organic forms, geometric motifs and expressive handcrafted details. Earthy shades, Kantha embroidery, lace and hand-painted folk motifs were incorporated into contemporary silhouettes.
DRAPED POWER explored the contrast between structured workwear and the fluidity of festive drapes. Blazers, waistcoats and defined silhouettes were combined with elegant draping, creating a modern interpretation of occasion wear in rich shades of red, black and oxidised gold.
ASTITWA presented a powerful exploration of identity and transformation. Inspired by the emotional journey of a transgender individual towards self-acceptance, the collection moved through different stages of identity, from concealment and conflict to transformation and finally self-expression. The evolving silhouettes reflected this journey through a striking combination of deep navy and vibrant Madras checks.
NOCTURNAL DRIFTERS brought together influences from punk, street culture, rave, grunge and alternative fashion. Oversized sleeves, dramatic shoulders, layered panels, sculptural drapes and exaggerated volumes created an edgy and contemporary visual language celebrating individuality.
ROOH-E-PANKH explored femininity as a universal quality that transcends gender. Rooted in Indian heritage, the collection combined grand lehengas with structured corsets, vibrant Chattapatti patchwork and embroidered bird motifs symbolising freedom, hope and transformation.
Adding to the fashion showcase, AGOMONI 2026 also featured cultural performances by students, bringing together dance, music and the festive spirit.
With a strong industry-oriented learning approach and a focus on professional development, NIF Global Saltlake continues to provide students with opportunities to develop their creative skills and gain exposure to the fashion industry. More than 98% of its Fashion Design students have been placed with leading brands across India, while students have also showcased their work on prestigious platforms including London Fashion Week, Dubai Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week and Lakme Fashion Week.
AGOMONI 2026 served as a celebration of creativity, heritage and individuality, while providing emerging designers with a platform to present their vision with confidence, skill and purpose.
