
Kolkata, July 4: At a press conference in Kolkata after the successful conclusion of the 7th China–South Asia Cooperation Forum 2026 in Kunming, China, noted social entrepreneur and sustainability advocate Dr. Chaitali Das highlighted India’s vision for stronger regional cooperation in healthcare, rural development and cultural exchange.
Representing India as a distinguished speaker at the China–South Asia Think Tank Forum, Dr. Das addressed global policymakers and experts on sustainable development, eco-friendly innovation, healthcare collaboration, women-led development, eco-tourism and people-to-people ties between India and China.
A major highlight of her address was the proposal for a China–South Asia Oncology Exchange Programme, aimed at boosting collaboration among hospitals, cancer specialists and researchers to advance cancer treatment, medical knowledge sharing and psychological rehabilitation for cancer survivors.
The press conference was attended by H.E. Xu Wei, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kolkata, along with members of the West Bengal cultural delegation who represented India’s rich cultural heritage at the international forum.
Dr. Das also stressed the shared civilisational heritage of India and China through Yoga and Tai Chi, while advocating stronger cooperation in heritage tourism, rural innovation, sustainable livelihoods and women-led enterprises.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Chaitali Das said that meaningful dialogue and people-centric partnerships are key to achieving sustainable development, adding that India and China have immense potential to build stronger ties in healthcare, innovation, rural development and cultural exchange.
The forum concluded with a renewed focus on regional connectivity, multilateral cooperation and deeper people-to-people engagement, paving the way for stronger India–China collaboration in the years ahead.
