Kolkata, Sunday: In a vibrant display of discipline, strength, and dedication, the first half-yearly karate belt examination of the year was successfully conducted on Sunday afternoon at the NKDA Football Stadium in New Town. The event was organized by the Taioko-Sen Karate-Do Federation, drawing an impressive participation of nearly 300 candidates from across multiple districts.
Participants ranging from young children to adults demonstrated their techniques and mastery across various levels, competing for promotion through 10 different belt categories. The examination witnessed enthusiastic involvement not only from Kolkata but also from neighboring districts including Howrah, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, and South 24 Parganas, reflecting the growing popularity of martial arts in the region.
The event served as a platform for aspiring martial artists to exhibit their skills in front of experienced instructors and evaluators. The atmosphere at the stadium was charged with energy as candidates performed katas, sparring routines, and technical drills with precision and confidence.
Speaking on the occasion, key representatives of the organization — Manoj Das, Kumar Vikrant Gupta, Tapas Biswas, Mohammad Sikandar, and Amit Das — highlighted the federation’s consistent efforts in promoting karate. “For the past eight years, we have been organizing such examinations twice annually to encourage students and maintain structured progress in martial arts training,” they stated.

The program concluded with a felicitation ceremony where successful participants were awarded belts corresponding to their performance levels, along with commemorative mementos presented by the organizers. The initiative not only recognized individual achievements but also reinforced the values of discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship among the youth.
The successful आयोजन once again underscored New Town’s growing stature as a hub for sporting and cultural activities, while reaffirming the vital role of martial arts in holistic youth development.
