September 2025: SBI General Insurance, one of India’s leading general insurance provides, has announced the launch of a pioneering health scanning feature on its mobile application. This new functionality leverages advanced biometric technology to provide users with instant access to vital health metrics through simple face and finger scans.
Developed in collaboration with CarePlix, the feature employs remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) technology to extract health data from a brief video recording via the smartphone’s camera or fingerprint scan. This enables customers to monitor key parameters such as heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure, BMI, body weight, stress levels, total body fat, body water and more—anytime, anywhere—without the need for invasive sensors or medical devices.

The newly introduced biometric health feature is available to both existing and new customers of SBI General Insurance. In addition, the app extends 5% discounts on standard lab tests through partnered providers, offering greater value and encouraging preventive healthcare practices.
