Kolkata, May 18, 2026:
The Kolkata Women’s Business Alliance (KWBA) celebrated the spirit of motherhood, creativity and women empowerment through the maiden edition of “Glamour & Spices”, a vibrant Mother’s Day special event held in Kolkata. The unique initiative brought together women entrepreneurs, homemakers, professionals and creators on one platform to honour talent, confidence and togetherness.
The event witnessed the presence of several eminent personalities including Soma Chakraborty, Co-Founder & Managing Director of Goodace Hospital and President of Gouri’s Foundation; Piyali Goswami, Cultural Secretary of KWBA; Swati Das Chakraborty of Misthi Bahar; Moumita Mukherjee of Sristi Boutique; and Sunanda Banerjee, Director of Mission Hospital Durgapur. All of them are founder members of KWBA and played a key role in conceptualising the initiative.
One of the major highlights of the evening was “Sunrise presents Mayer Haater Ranna” — a specially curated culinary showcase celebrating the warmth, emotions and love associated with food prepared by mothers. The segment saw enthusiastic participation from women across different backgrounds along with several passionate male cooks, making it an inclusive celebration of culinary excellence and family traditions.
The programme also featured a spectacular multi-generational fashion showcase organised by KWBA, presenting a fusion Indo-western collection that beautifully reflected confidence, inclusivity and elegance. Participants ranging from 2 years to 60 years walked the ramp, symbolising the timeless spirit of women empowerment and celebrating the Bengali saying, “Je Raandhe, Shey Chul-o Baandhe.”
Fashion presentations by Sristi Boutique, MR Creation, Appie Blossom and KolkataNama added glamour and sophistication to the evening and received immense appreciation from the audience.

The judging panel for the event included celebrity culinary expert Bipasha Mukherjee for the cooking segment, while the fashion showcase was judged by renowned fashion designer Shantanu Guha Thakurta, eminent career coach Abhishek De Sarkar, fashion designer and professor Abhishek Ray, and Hangla Hneshel editor Anilabha Chattopadhyay.
Speaking on the occasion, Soma Chakraborty said that KWBA aims to create a strong community-driven platform where women can connect, empower themselves, showcase their talents and transform their dreams into success and prosperity. She added that this was only the beginning, with many larger editions planned in the future.
The successful maiden edition of “Glamour & Spices” highlighted KWBA’s commitment towards encouraging networking, collaboration and meaningful opportunities for women across different fields, while celebrating the essence of motherhood, talent and empowerment.
