Malabar Gold & Diamonds Expands CSR Reach in East, Launches ₹1.8 Crore Scholarship Programme for 2,000 Students

Kolkata | April 10, 2026: Malabar Gold & Diamonds has strengthened its social impact footprint in eastern India with the launch of a dedicated scholarship programme aimed at supporting 2,000 students. The initiative, backed by an investment of ₹1.8 crore, forms part of the group’s larger ₹200 crore national CSR commitment for FY 2026–27.

The programme underscores the company’s continued focus on education as a key driver of long-term community development. At the national level, Malabar’s CSR efforts span more than 3,000 locations across 19 states and are expected to benefit over 2 lakh individuals. The initiatives cover a wide spectrum including hunger relief, healthcare, housing, women empowerment, and environmental protection.

A significant highlight of the CSR roadmap is its emphasis on education, with plans to provide scholarships to 33,000 girls and expand micro-learning centres for underprivileged children in collaboration with Pratham Education Foundation. These initiatives are implemented through the Malabar Charitable Trust.

Strong Regional Impact Across Eastern India

In eastern India, the group’s interventions extend well beyond scholarships, addressing critical needs such as nutrition, education access, and clean drinking water:

  • Jharkhand: 217 micro-learning centres supporting 9,169 students; 7,109 daily meals across two locations; 25 drinking water wells benefiting 1,065 individuals.
  • Odisha: 183 centres aiding 5,738 students; 5,017 meals daily across five locations; 132 wells serving 2,511 individuals.
  • West Bengal: 192 centres supporting 7,501 students; 6,292 meals per day across two locations; 402 wells benefiting 9,446 individuals.

Leadership Perspective

Speaking on the initiative, M. P. Ahammad said, “Education remains one of the most effective ways to create long-term impact at both an individual and community level. Through our scholarship programmes, we aim to support students who have the ability to succeed but require financial assistance to continue their studies.”

Commitment to Inclusive Growth

Malabar Gold & Diamonds allocates 5% of its net trading profit towards CSR activities, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive and sustainable development. With a structured approach and consistent investments, the group continues to scale its education-led initiatives across regions, ensuring meaningful and measurable impact.
