On May 25, 2025, at a club near Eastern Metropolitan Bypass in Kolkata, private organization Gitanjali conferred the “Kolkata Ratna” to six eminent personalities, “Pride of Kolkata” to ten individuals, and “Best of Kolkata” to one organization, for the very first time.
On behalf of Gitanjali, Subrata Sinha announced the names of this year’s “Kolkata Ratna” awardees: world-renowned magician P.C. Sorcar (Jr.), educationist and author Dr. Pabitra Sarkar, Dr. M.P. Rosario, singer Lopamudra Mitra, actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty, and actress-dancer Mamata Shankar.
The “Pride of Kolkata” honor was awarded to photographer Anupam Haldar, Dr. Subimal Das, physician Arindam Biswas, former footballer Prashanta Banerjee, cricket administrator Sambaran Banerjee, singer Agnibha Banerjee, actress Tanushree Chakraborty, as well as Sudarshan Chakraborty and Suranjan Pal.
Meanwhile, the club organization “Uttar Kolkata Udyayer Pathe” was recognized with the “Best of Kolkata” title.
All awardees received a bouquet, a trophy, and a certificate of honor.
