JSW Dulux Revives 250-Year-Old Kolkata Heritage Home Ahead of Durga Puja

Third Edition of ‘Let’s Colour’ Initiative Restores Kundu Bari, Celebrating Bengal’s Cultural Heritage, Family Traditions and Festive Memories

Kolkata, October 17, 2026: Ahead of Durga Puja, JSW Dulux has revitalised the nearly 250-year-old Kundu Bari in Kolkata through the third edition of its ‘Let’s Colour’ initiative. The restoration brings renewed vibrancy to the historic family home, where generations of descendants continue to preserve their traditional Durga Puja celebrations.

Kundu Bari is among Kolkata’s heritage homes that remain in the hands of their original family’s descendants. Beyond its architectural significance, the residence holds generations of memories, family gatherings and rituals associated with Durga Puja. The restoration aims to preserve the home’s distinctive character while creating a vibrant setting for the family’s annual festivities.

Over the years, the walls, courtyards and traditional Thakur Dalan had begun to show signs of ageing. JSW Dulux has restored these spaces using Dulux Dustproof Hi-Sheen Premium Acrylic Exterior Emulsion, giving the heritage property a refreshed finish ahead of the festive season. The paint features Dustshield Technology to help keep surfaces cleaner, anti-algal and anti-fungal properties to protect against growth in humid conditions, and 5 Degree Sun Reflect technology to help keep walls cooler. Intricate Alpana artwork further enhances the home’s traditional Bengali character.

Speaking about the initiative, Rajiv Rajgopal, Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Dulux Limited, said the company’s ‘Let’s Colour’ initiative aims to create meaningful change by transforming spaces and communities. Following earlier editions in Jodhpur and Spiti, the Kolkata project continues the initiative’s commitment to revitalising spaces while preserving their unique cultural identities.

Vandana Krishnia, Chief Marketing Officer of JSW Dulux Limited, highlighted the significance of bringing the initiative to Kolkata ahead of Durga Puja. She noted that a traditional Bengali Badi represents more than a home—it is a place where generations gather, celebrate their heritage, uphold traditions and create lasting memories.

The campaign documents Kundu Bari’s transformation from its faded appearance to its renewed festive look. Through conversations with the Kundu family, it explores how the restoration has brought fresh energy to the home while reconnecting family members with cherished childhood memories of Puja celebrations.

With the restored Thakur Dalan ready to welcome Ma Durga and the family, the initiative highlights the enduring relationship between colour, cultural heritage and tradition.

Through its ‘Let’s Colour’ initiative, JSW Dulux continues to demonstrate how colour can go beyond beautification to revitalise heritage spaces, preserve cultural identity and strengthen people’s emotional connections with their homes and communities.
