
Kolkata, June 29: Reinforcing the crucial role of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in driving economic growth, the Federation of Associations of Small Industries of India (FASII) organized a high-profile national seminar on the occasion of International MSME Day 2026 at the ICCR Auditorium, Kolkata. Held under the theme “Immense Potential of MSMEs in a Developed Bengal,” the event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, financial institutions, startups, academicians, and entrepreneurs to chart a roadmap for transforming West Bengal into a leading industrial and entrepreneurial hub.
Supported by Infrafusion Engineering Limited (IFL), the seminar featured the presence of Minister Deepak Barman, Dr. Shankar Ghosh, Dr. Indranil Khan, and former cricketer Ashok Dinda, all of whom underscored the MSME sector’s vital contribution to employment generation, innovation, self-reliance, and sustainable economic development.
Addressing the gathering, FASII National President Saileshwar Panda emphasized that MSMEs must become the cornerstone of Bengal’s development strategy. He called for industry-friendly policies, simplified approval mechanisms, improved access to finance, enhanced subsidies, world-class industrial infrastructure, and stronger export promotion to unlock the sector’s full potential. He noted that MSMEs have the capacity to transform the state’s youth from job seekers into job creators.
The seminar witnessed in-depth deliberations on industrial policy reforms, credit accessibility, digital transformation, AI-driven manufacturing, technological innovation, startup development, women entrepreneurship, skill enhancement, export promotion, and rural industrialization. Participants unanimously agreed that close collaboration between the government, industry, and financial institutions is essential to position West Bengal as a premier MSME and manufacturing destination.
Adding a unique cultural dimension to the event, an inspirational song celebrating industrial development and entrepreneurship was launched, inspiring confidence and optimism among participants.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, FASII, with the support of Infrafusion Engineering Limited (IFL), distributed free sewing machines to economically disadvantaged women to encourage self-employment, financial independence, and sustainable rural livelihoods.
The seminar also witnessed the participation of prominent spiritual leaders, including Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Paramatmanand Giri Ji Maharaj, Padma Shri Swami Pradiptanand Ji Maharaj (Kartik Maharaj), and Maharaj Hiranyamay Goswami Ji. They highlighted the strong connection between entrepreneurship, industry, labor, and nation-building while encouraging collective efforts toward industrial progress.
Recognizing excellence in entrepreneurship and industrial development, FASII felicitated several distinguished industrialists, including Dr. Ajit Kumar Jain, Sanjay Goenka, Anil Chanani, and Somnath Adukia, for their outstanding contributions to innovation and economic growth.
The event was successfully coordinated under the leadership of FASII West Bengal Chairman Sanjay Sureka, National Economic Advisor Shobhit Chhavchharia, Vice President Devdutt Banerjee, and the organization’s dedicated office bearers and members.
