AI Reshapes Careers: WPU Goa Champions Transdisciplinary Education for the Future

Kolkata, June 20, 2026: As artificial intelligence (AI) and rapid technological advancements continue to transform industries across the globe, universities must move beyond preparing students for their first job and instead equip them for a lifetime of career transitions and emerging opportunities, experts said at the WPU Goa Open House held in Kolkata.

The event brought together prospective students, parents, and educators to discuss the future of higher education and the evolving demands of the modern workforce. At the heart of the discussion was WPU Goa’s transdisciplinary approach to learning, designed to help students develop deep expertise while fostering the ability to think across disciplines, adapt to change, and solve complex real-world problems.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ashish Bharadwaj, Pro Vice Chancellor of WPU Goa, emphasized that the traditional model of preparing students solely for their first job is no longer sufficient.

“The future belongs not just to specialists, but to individuals who can continuously learn, connect ideas across domains, and respond effectively to challenges that do not fit neatly into conventional categories,” he said.

Speakers highlighted how AI-driven disruption is reshaping career pathways, creating new professions while transforming existing ones. In this rapidly changing environment, adaptability, curiosity, resilience, and lifelong learning are becoming just as important as technical expertise.

The discussion underscored the growing need for higher education institutions to prepare students not only for today’s jobs but also for opportunities and careers that may not yet exist.

WPU Goa currently offers programs including B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Bachelor of Management Studies (Hons.), B.Des. in Integrated Product Design, B.Des. in Communication Design, and B.Sc. (Hons.) in Psychology.

As students and parents increasingly seek clarity about the future of work, the event reinforced the importance of an education model that prioritizes adaptability, interdisciplinary thinking, and continuous learning—skills that will define success in an era of constant change.
