War Beyond Borders” Talk Show Explores Impact of Global Conflicts on Everyday Life

Kolkata, May 3, 2026: In an engaging and insightful initiative, the Lions Club of Calcutta North hosted a high-impact talk show titled “Global Conflicts – Shaping Your Lives?” at The Tollygunge Club. Centered around the theme “War Beyond Borders,” the event shed light on how international conflicts are no longer distant geopolitical concerns but powerful forces shaping daily life, economies, governance, and individual choices.

The session brought together a distinguished panel of experts from diverse fields. Speakers included Debashis Sen (IAS, Retd.), Former Chairman of HIDCO; Reshmi Ghosh, Former Femina Miss India; Rear Admiral Subir Mukherjee (Retd.), Indian Navy; Seema Sapru, Principal of The Heritage School; Dr. K. Rangarajan, Professor & Head at IIFT Kolkata; and renowned TEDx Speaker Lokesh Nathany. The discussion was skillfully moderated by the Club’s Joint Secretary, Tapan Kumar Gadodia.

The panel delivered a dynamic exchange of perspectives across defence, governance, education, and media narratives, translating complex global issues into relatable real-world impacts. An interactive Q&A session further deepened audience engagement, reinforcing how global developments increasingly influence everyday realities.

Adding a touch of legacy and recognition, the evening also featured an audio-visual tribute honoring the past presidents of the Club.

Club President Lion Anil Saraogi emphasized the objective of the initiative, stating that it aims to empower citizens to move beyond passive observation and become informed, resilient participants in a rapidly evolving global landscape. Moderator Lion Tapan Kumar Gadodia highlighted the importance of such dialogues in fostering awareness and encouraging thoughtful public engagement.

The event’s success was made possible through the dedicated efforts of key members including PDG Lion Subhash Murarka, Lion Ratan Dugar, Secretary Lion Niranjan Jain, Treasurer Lion Babulal Bothra, and IPP Lion O. P. Bangur.

Established in 1961, the Lions Club of Calcutta North stands as a premier institution under District 322B1, with a membership of over 160 individuals. Under the current leadership of President Lion Anil Saraogi, the club continues to impact thousands of lives each month through initiatives such as the Lions North Calcutta Hospital & Medical Centre, a Vocational Training Centre, and the expansive 9.5-acre Lions Safari Park.

From its flagship “Sight First” vision care program to the “Roti on Wheel” hunger relief initiative, the club remains steadfast in its mission of community service, empowerment, and sustainable social impact.
