A Wave of Faith: Annual Urs of Hazrat Syed Mir Shah (RA) Concludes in Ghusuri Amid Heavy Rain

A unique confluence of spirituality and communal harmony was witnessed today at 146, J.N. Mukherjee Road in the Ghusuri area of Howrah. The occasion was the annual Urs Mubarak of the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Mir Shah Rahmatullah Alaih. Despite continuous heavy rainfall since morning, thousands of devotees gathered at the dargah to offer prayers and seek blessings.

Atmosphere Resonates with Religious Rituals and Devotional Poetry

The program commenced ceremoniously with chadar poshi and gul poshi at the sacred shrine under the leadership of Janab Imtiyaz Ansari, head of Anjuman Ghulamane Panjtan. The surroundings turned deeply spiritual and emotional as renowned poets presented soulful naatia kalam. Performances by Janab Ashraf Ali Banarasi, Janab Parvez Habibi, Janab Hasan Raza, and Janab Shabbir Ali captivated the audience.

Religious proceedings were conducted by Hafiz Ehsan Raza Rizvi, Imam of Syed Mir Mosque, along with shrine caretaker Janab Anwar Ali Qadri, who offered special prayers for peace, prosperity, and communal harmony in the country.

Presence of Political and Social Dignitaries

Several prominent personalities from the region attended the Urs and offered chadar. Among the chief guests were former councillor Mrs. Savitri Devi Sao, the IC of Mali Panchghara Police Station, and Mrs. Shamima Khan, head of Aklima Foundation. All emphasized the teachings of Sufi saints and the importance of interfaith harmony.

Other notable attendees included social worker Janab Badru Doza Ansari, General Secretary of Syed Mir Mazar Committee Janab Mohammad Aslam, Secretary Janab Mohammad Shamim Khan, Janab Mohammad Islam, Janab Mohammad Shaban Ansari (Raju), Janab Mohammad Muslim, and Janab Ajmal Hussain. All guests were warmly welcomed by the committee.

Extensive Arrangements for Devotees and Security Measures

The Mazar Committee ensured comprehensive arrangements for devotees. Considering the rain, special pandals were set up for shelter. A grand langar (tabarruk) was organized at the conclusion, where people from all religions and communities participated without discrimination. Distribution of shirni and food continued till late evening.

Local administration and police maintained strict security arrangements to manage the heavy crowd and prevent any untoward incidents. Devotees continued to visit the shrine till late night, reflecting deep faith and reverence for the dargah.
