Kolkata, October 3, 2026: Bringing the joy of Durga Pujo to children from underserved communities, YES BANK, in partnership with the Satyam Roychowdhury Foundation and the Rotary Club of Calcutta Metropolitan East, celebrated the fourth edition of its community initiative, ‘Sobar Pujo, Durga Pujo’.
A special distribution ceremony was organised at G.D. Birla Sabhaghar, Kolkata, where more than 12,000 new clothes were distributed to underprivileged children across West Bengal ahead of Durga Pujo. The number marks a significant increase from 9,000 clothes distributed in 2025 and 4,700 in 2024.
The ceremony was graced by Rtn. Shyamashree Sen, Past District Governor, Rotary and District Literacy Chair, as the Chief Guest. Principals, teachers, students, NGO representatives, community leaders, dignitaries from the Rotary Club of Calcutta Metropolitan East and representatives of partner organisations also attended the event.
Over the past four years, ‘Sobar Pujo, Durga Pujo’ has grown into a community-driven initiative celebrating Bengal’s cherished tradition of wearing notun jama (new clothes) during Pujo. Employees of YES BANK, along with schools, NGOs, corporate partners, housing societies, neighbourhood clubs and individual donors across West Bengal, have contributed to the initiative.
The programme reflects a collective effort to ensure that children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds can experience the happiness and festive spirit of Durga Pujo. YES BANK aims to build on the initiative in the coming years and reach more children across the state.
