Water Supply to be Disrupted for 24 Hours from Serampore Water Treatment Plant

Hooghly, May 20:
The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) has announced a 24-hour suspension of water supply from the Serampore Water Treatment Plant, starting from 11:00 AM on May 20 to 11:00 AM on May 21, due to scheduled cleaning and maintenance of underground reservoirs at the facility.

Residents across several towns—Serampore, Rishra, Konnagar, Uttarpara-Chandannagar, Bediabati, and Bhadreswar—are likely to face water shortages during this period, as the disruption involves a significant 20 million gallons of daily water supply.

KMDA officials have advised all affected residents to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously. The Executive Engineer of the KMDA division has also urged local municipality heads to implement proactive steps to reduce public inconvenience.
