Kolkata, February 1, 2026:
Mental health professionals from Annantaa have welcomed the Union Budget 2026–27, stating that its focus on long-term economic growth and inclusive development has the potential to significantly improve the emotional and psychological well-being of citizens.
Reacting to the budget, Madhuri Sarda, Psychologist and Founder of Annantaa, and Vidhi Bansal, Psychotherapist and Co-founder, highlighted the government’s emphasis on infrastructure expansion, job creation, support for MSMEs, education, healthcare capacity building, and inclusive growth as key drivers of economic stability.
They noted that sustained investment in these areas can help reduce financial stress and uncertainty, which are among the leading contributors to anxiety, depression, and chronic stress in today’s fast-paced society.
“Economic security plays a crucial role in mental and emotional health. When individuals feel more confident about employment opportunities, skill development, and access to essential services, it fosters a sense of stability, control, and hope for the future,” the experts observed.
According to the Annantaa founders, policies that strengthen livelihoods and social infrastructure not only support economic progress but also promote emotional resilience at both individual and community levels. Reduced financial strain, they added, allows people to focus more on personal growth, relationships, and overall well-being.
The mental health professionals further emphasised that a holistic approach to national development—where economic planning is viewed alongside emotional and psychological health—is essential for building a resilient and productive society.
