
Kolkata, May 9, 2025 – To mark the 164th birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, Techno India Group, in collaboration with Namrata Weaves, hosted a special cultural event titled “Sonar Tori – Bengal Immersion: Drapes, Delights, Dialogues”. The immersive celebration aimed to honor Tagore’s legacy through a blend of heritage, storytelling, and artistic expression.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairperson of Techno India Group, and saw the presence of several distinguished guests including British Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Fleming, Chinese Deputy Consul General Mr. Qin Yong, actor and filmmaker Ashok Vishwanathan, and Director Mr. Satrajit Sen.
The day began with a traditional ‘Boron’ ceremony, followed by a guided walk showcasing Bengal’s rich textile legacy. Activities included Indian textile draping and styling led by Namrata Weaves, hands-on traditional Bengali crafts like Alpana and garland-making, and cozy ‘Adda’ sessions with eminent personalities from the creative and academic fields.
Photography corners captured vibrant moments, while attendees enjoyed authentic Bengali cuisine and storytelling sessions guided by Techno India Group Public School educators. A musical performance by students of Techno Main Saltlake added charm to the event.
“Sonar Tori” celebrated Tagore’s vision of immersive learning and cultural richness, emphasizing learning through touch, taste, and spirit—making Bengal’s living traditions accessible and enjoyable for younger generations.
