A new highway dining destination, Step Inn Dhaba & Restaurant, has opened its doors on the Durgapur Expressway in Hooghly, introducing a one-stop food experience for long-distance commuters and truck drivers. The facility blends authentic dhaba charm with a modern setup, offering a multicuisine restaurant, a classic dhaba area, a takeaway counter, and a dedicated tea section.
One of its most unique features is “Swayam Pakana”, a self-cooking zone designed especially for truck drivers and highway travellers, enabling them to prepare meals to their taste while on the road.
The grand launch ceremony, held on Thursday at the HPCL Auto Care Center, witnessed the presence of Tollywood actress Darshana Banik, Ramesh Pattanaik, DGM Highway, and HPCL Durgapur Retail RO Chief Regional Manager Prodip Prosun Roy.
Co-founders Shawli Mukherjee and Debroop Dutta addressed the gathering, highlighting their inspiration behind the venture. Mukherjee said Step Inn aims to create a warm and accessible place where families, travellers, and truck drivers can enjoy wholesome food in comfort and dignity. Dutta emphasised the importance of authenticity and inclusivity, adding that the Swayam Pakana initiative brings a “sense of home” to India’s highways.

The launch concluded with a celebratory event, marking the beginning of what the founders describe as a community-centric and innovative approach to highway dining. Positioned as a reliable and heartwarming stop for travellers, Step Inn Dhaba & Restaurant plans to redefine food experiences along the Durgapur Expressway.
