Popular Tollywood actress Srabanti Chatterjee has taken on a new role in the Bengali film industry, turning presenter for the first time with the upcoming movie Daanter Lorai. Directed by Biplob Koyal, the film narrates the poignant story of a poverty-stricken rural girl and her innocent love for a popular candy named ‘Daanter Lorai’.
Sharing her excitement about her debut as a presenter, Srabanti said, “Daanter Lorai is a very soul-touching movie. When director Biplob Koyal and his team approached me, I wanted to watch the film first. After seeing it, I was deeply moved by its emotional appeal. It’s a beautifully made film that deserves a wider audience, and I felt it was the right project to step into this new role.”
She further added, “This is my first outing as a presenter, and I’m thrilled to contribute to Bengali cinema in a new capacity. It’s fulfilling to support meaningful storytelling beyond just acting.”
The movie features child artist Akansha Sengupta in the lead role of Khuku, with Abhilash Chakrabarty playing her father Danu and Swastika Das portraying her mother. The supporting cast includes Partha Ghatak, Chaitali Jana, and Bablu Banerjee in key roles.
The story and screenplay have been penned by director Biplob Koyal himself. Bubay Halder has handled both cinematography and editing duties.
In the music department, Subir Chatterjee has composed the title track sung by Debopriya Das. Arijit Kishore Ray has lent his voice to Raat Pohaile, while Ghumer Desher Rani has been sung and composed by Parijat Chakrabarty. The film’s lyrics have been written by Dipankar Ghosh and Abhilash Chakraborty.
Daanter Lorai promises to deliver an emotionally rich narrative with strong performances and soulful music, marking a significant moment in Srabanti Chatterjee’s career as she steps into the role of presenter.
