Kolkata, 27 June 2025:
Renowned Bengali actress Srabanti Chatterjee added star power to the trailer launch of the much-anticipated Bengali film ‘Daanter Lorai’, directed by Biplob Kayal. The event, held at the stylish lounge of Heddone—Eastern India’s largest beverage destination—saw the presence of the entire cast and crew, alongside members of the media and film fraternity.
Stepping into the role of a presenter for the first time, Srabanti expressed her enthusiasm for the project. Speaking at the event, she said:
“I am extremely excited to present ‘Daanter Lorai’. The story, set in the 1970s, follows a young girl named Khuku and her love for a candy called Daanter Lorai—a nostalgic treat from the era. The film beautifully captures rural life and explores Khuku’s emotional journey as she strives to support her father’s treatment and dreams of visiting the city with him. The climax is deeply touching and will linger in the audience’s hearts.”
Praising the cast, she added:
“I was amazed by the performances, especially by Akansha Sengupta and Swastika Das, who portray Khuku and her mother. It’s fascinating that both are of the same age and from the same school—yet their screen presence is incredibly authentic. That’s a rare feat in cinema.”
Director Biplob Kayal described the film as a labor of love:
“Having Srabanti Chatterjee as our presenter is an honor. Every member of the cast and crew has poured their heart into this film. It’s a touching story, and I believe audiences will connect deeply with it.”
Akansha Sengupta, making her debut as the lead character Khuku, shared her experience:
“Portraying a rural girl was both challenging and rewarding. I worked hard to adapt to her mannerisms and dialect. It’s a privilege to have my debut film presented by someone as iconic as Srabanti Ma’am.”
Swastika Das, playing the role of Khuku’s mother, reflected on her transformation for the role:
“I was initially surprised to be cast as a mother, given my age. But through workshops and rehearsals, I fully embraced the character and am proud of the result.”
The event also saw participation from Vishnu Agarwal, co-owner of Heddone, who said:
“We’re proud to partner with ‘Daanter Lorai’. With Srabanti Chatterjee associated with the film, we believe this project holds great promise and appeal. We wish the team immense success.”
The launch event was further enlivened by the presence of singers Debopriyo Das, Arijit Kishore Ray, Parijat Chakraborty, and Abhilash Chakraborty.
🎬 ‘Daanter Lorai’ is set to release in theatres on 11th July 2025.
