South Point Celebrates Excellence at Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony 2025

Kolkata, 4th July, 2025 : A Day of Honour, Inspiration, and Celebration at Science City Auditorium.

In a glittering celebration of academic brilliance, creative excellence, and sheer resilience, the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony of South Point School and South Point High School was held on July 4, 2025, at the prestigious Science City Auditorium. The grand event witnessed an ebullient audience comprising awardees, parents, guardians, educators, senior members of the staff, and distinguished guests.

The event commenced with a soulful Invocation and the rendition of the School Song by the pupils of South Point High School, setting a tone of pride and tradition.

In his welcome address, Sri Jaidev Ghosh, Principal, South Point High School, highlighted the major academic and extracurricular milestones achieved during 2024-25 across both institutions. His speech reflected the vision and continued excellence that South Point stands for.

The ceremony was graced by eminent dignitaries including Justice Kalpesh S. Jhaveri (Retd.), Trustee and President of the Governing Council of South Point Education Society, Shri S. K. Daga, Trustee and Vice President, Smt. Rupa Sanyal Bhattacharjee, Director (Academics), Smt. Dalbir Kaur Chadda, Principal, South Point School, and Sri Jaidev Ghosh, Principal, South Point High School.

In his inspiring address, Justice Jhaveri reminisced about the noble vision of Shri Madhav Prasadji Birla and Smt. Priyamvada Birla, whose legacy in health and education continues to uplift generations. He also shared the exciting news of the school’s upcoming shift to a new, state-of-the-art campus that will unite both wings under one roof.

Honouring the Best of the Best

The highlight of the evening was the grand conferring of awards:

  • The Puja Utkarsh Samman recognised creativity and spirit in four unique categories: Best Idol, Best Pandal, Best Ambience, and Puja with a Heart. Judged by students themselves, this segment added a peer-to-peer value to the event.
  • The prestigious Founder’s Medal for All-Round Performance was awarded to:
    • Aaron Potsangbam (Classes I–V)
    • Adrija Sen (Classes VI–X)
    • Swikriti Das Biswas (Classes XI–XII)
    Each received a medal, certificate, and cash prize for their outstanding balance of academics, extracurriculars, and leadership.
  • The M.P. Birla Special Talent Award was presented to Ankur Banerjee, a student-photographer with exceptional flair.
