
Kolkata, August 21, 2025: Manipal Hospitals Kolkata, one of India’s leading healthcare providers, successfully hosted Kolkata’s first-ever Senior Citizens’ Sports Summit today, aimed at promoting fitness, agility, and mental alertness among the elderly.
The event commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony graced by former Indian cricketer Arun Lal as the chief guest, alongside eminent doctors of Manipal Hospitals. Over 100 senior citizens participated in a variety of fun and competitive activities, including chess, carrom, marble & spoon race, musical chairs, brain teasers, spelling bee, and more. The initiative focused on enhancing physical well-being while encouraging social interaction and joy among seniors.
Panel Discussion on Holistic Wellbeing
As part of the summit, a panel discussion was conducted on the importance of holistic healthcare for the elderly. Experts included Dr. Jayanta Roy, Dr. Kunal Sarkar, Dr. Debraj Jash, Dr. Subhasis Roy Choudhury, Dr. Binayak Sinha, and Dr. Debasis Chakravarty, who shared insights on cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory, endocrine, and orthopedic care for seniors.

A special prize distribution ceremony was held in the presence of senior specialists across clusters, including Dr. Vikash Kapoor, Dr. Arindam Pande, Dr. Sujoy Das Thakur, Dr. Chandrasish Chakraborty, Dr. Paramita Kanjilal, Dr. Smita Maitra, Dr. Jayanta Das, Dr. Debraj Jash, Dr. Subhasis Roy Choudhury, Dr. Binayak Sinha, and Dr. Debasis Chakravarty.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ayanabh Debgupta, Regional Chief Operating Officer, Manipal Hospitals – East, emphasized the hospital’s commitment to senior citizens’ well-being.
