Kolkata: The Calcutta University (College Street campus) recently came alive with voices of dissent, knowledge, and celebration as students commemorated the November Revolution through “Sangrami Boipotro” — a vibrant showcase of books, songs, debates, quizzes and cultural expressions of resistance. The event, organised by the student body, began on November 10 and culminated on November 14, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and streetgoers alike.
Adding a soulful dimension to the final evening was Shudhu Tomakei Bhalobese Collective (STB Collective), whose stirring musical performance transformed College Street’s familiar scent of books into an arena of harmony and hope. Members Sudhaborshy, Arghya, Pritam, Ritaban and Nilanjan infused their songs with themes of love entwined with revolution — evoking solidarity in the quiet December chill as bystanders joined the chorus.
Speaking during the performance, band member Nilanjan Ghosal referenced Silajit Majumder, remarking, “Prem chhara ki dinbodoler gaan shonano jaye?” (What song of change exists without love?). He further added,
“We believe that the future of hate can only be resisted with love. We will stand before it — in love, with love — foolishly hopeful, as youth who still dare to dream of change.”

The evening ended with applause, laughter, and a renewed belief that in times of unrest, love and art remain among the most powerful forms of resistance.
