Howrah, March 6 (Friday): A spiritually uplifting gathering marked the completion of the recitation of the Holy Qur’an during Taraweeh prayers at Syed Mir Mosque on Friday evening. The programme brought together religious scholars, community members and devotees in an atmosphere of devotion, reflection and unity during the holy month of Ramadan.
Located in a predominantly non-Muslim locality, the mosque has long served as a centre of faith and harmony for the local Muslim community. Keeping in mind the daily schedules of labourers and working people in the area, the recitation of the Qur’an during Taraweeh was thoughtfully completed within 16 days this year.
The Qur’an recitation was led by Hafiz Ehsan Raza Rizvi, Imam of Syed Mir Mosque, whose dedication and spiritual guidance were widely appreciated by the congregation.
The event was graced by several respected religious scholars and community leaders including Hafiz Asghar Ali Rizvi, Imam of Noori Mosque, Hafiz Mohammad Islam, Hafiz Mohammad Tanveer Alam, and Hafiz Mohammad Zarif, former Imam of Firdous Mosque.
The programme commenced with a soulful recitation of Naat-e-Rasool by Dr. Salim Akhtar, followed by contributions from Parvez Habibi and Anwar Ali Qadri, who is also a devoted caretaker of Syed Mir Mosque.
During the gathering, Hafiz Qayamuddin spoke about the spiritual significance of completing the recitation of the Holy Qur’an in Taraweeh prayers, highlighting the virtues of fasting and the blessings associated with Ramadan. He emphasised that the sacred month offers believers an opportunity for spiritual purification, patience and greater devotion to faith.
Among the guests present on the occasion was community member Badru Doza Ansari, who expressed happiness over the continued commitment of Hafiz Gulab Ashrafi, the muezzin of Firdous Mosque, for regularly leading Taraweeh prayers every year with dedication.

The gathering also saw the presence of several respected members of the community including Qaiyum Khan, Mohammad Islam, Mohammad Ali Johar, and Javed Akhtar, along with many other distinguished attendees.
At the conclusion of the programme, sweets were distributed among the attendees by Shamim Khan, adding a note of celebration and togetherness to the occasion.
The successful organisation of the event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of community members Mohammad Shaheel Khan, Mohammad Aslam, and Saddam, whose active participation ensured that the spiritual gathering concluded smoothly and memorably.
The event stood as a powerful reflection of faith, unity and devotion, demonstrating how community initiatives during Ramadan continue to strengthen bonds and inspire collective spirituality.
