Eveready Industries India Ltd., India’s leading flashlight and battery manufacturer, has achieved a significant milestone with its TEFCO (The Eveready Flashlight Company) facility in Lucknow being awarded the prestigious Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification.
The certification marks a major recognition of the company’s commitment to quality, excellence, and adherence to India’s strict manufacturing standards. The TEFCO unit, one of the country’s oldest and largest flashlight manufacturing plants, is now among the select few facilities to carry the official ISI mark and Central Mark License (CML) number on its certified products.
With a rise in unorganized players flooding the market with uncertified and often misleading products, the BIS certification reinforces trust among consumers. It ensures that flashlights and related products meet rigorous testing for quality, safety, and performance, promoting fair competition and standardization across the industry.

Eveready’s TEFCO facility also houses a NABL-accredited laboratory, where its products undergo comprehensive testing as part of the BIS certification process. This reinforces Eveready’s status as a reliable and benchmark-setting player in the flashlight category.

Established in 1956 and inaugurated in 1958 by the then Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. V.V. Giri, the TEFCO plant has played a central role in Eveready’s journey. Today, it manufactures a wide range of lighting solutions including LED flashlights, rechargeable lanterns, and more.
The BIS certification aligns with the government’s broader push for standardization across sectors such as footwear, chemicals, electronics, and textiles, ensuring consumers receive products that are both safe and reliable.
