Kolkata, 16 June, 2025: In a powerful blend of environmental action and community care, CREDAI Kolkata has rolled out an innovative CSR initiative titled ‘Rice for Plastic’. This campaign, aimed at reducing plastic and e-waste pollution, also addresses the nutritional needs of construction workers and their families.
Conducted across various project sites in Kolkata, Howrah, and Hooghly, the initiative encourages residents and construction workers to exchange 2 kilograms of dry plastic or e-waste for 1 kilogram of rice. This thoughtful campaign not only promotes responsible waste disposal but also directly supports the communities that form the backbone of urban infrastructure development.
The campaign has seen an overwhelming response from hundreds of families, who actively participated by contributing plastic and e-waste at their respective sites. A special event on June 16 at KMDA Projects underscored the spirit of community involvement and environmental accountability.
Key Dignitary Participation :
The event was graced by Shri Firhad Hakim, Hon’ble Mayor and Minister of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs and Housing, Government of West Bengal. He lauded the campaign’s dual positive impact on both the environment and the social fabric of society.
