Kolkata, October 29, 2025:
The Block Level Sports Meet 2025, organized by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) Kolkata South under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with the Bengal Academy for Karate & Self Defence, concluded successfully at the Thakurpukur Government Playground.
Held on 28th and 29th October 2025, the two-day event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 150 young athletes, including NCC cadet boys and girls and teams from Thakurpukur Sports Club and other local organizations.
The meet featured three sports categories for boys and three for girls, encouraging inclusivity and competitive spirit among the youth.
- Boys’ events: Football, Slow Cycling, and Kite Flying
- Girls’ events: Badminton, Tug of War, and 200m Race
The winners of the championship will now represent their block in the upcoming District Sports Meet, marking a significant step forward for emerging athletes from the region.
Guests of Honour at the event included Ramesh Kr. Singh, Sports Cell Secretary, Bangio Sankhyalghu Buddhijibi Manch and President (Behala Assembly), and Sondha Sarkar, Councillor of Ward 125, who lauded the participants for their passion, discipline, and sportsmanship.
The meet reflected the growing commitment of Mera Yuva Bharat to empower youth through sports and physical development while fostering community engagement and teamwork.
