

Kolkata, June 2025: Once feared as a life-altering diagnosis, cancer is increasingly becoming a condition that can be managed and even overcome, thanks to early detection, cutting-edge treatment, and unwavering mental strength. Observed each June, National Cancer Survivor Month honours individuals who have battled cancer and reclaimed their lives transforming despair into determination.
In a moving tribute to resilience and recovery, B.P. Poddar Cancer Hospital in New Alipore hosted a special event celebrating cancer survivors, whose stories of hope serve as powerful inspiration to others navigating similar journeys.
Among the attendees was Swapan Debnath, a senior resident of Behala Parnasree, who shared his journey of courage and timely action. Diagnosed in the early stages of prostate cancer following prompt medical consultation, Mr. Debnath underwent a successful seven-hour surgery under the expert care of Dr. Amlan Chakraborty. Today, following consistent medical supervision and follow-ups, he leads a full and healthy life. A noted writer and elocutionist, Mr. Debnath also performed a heartfelt recitation at the event, underscoring his return to normalcy and creative expression.
