Kolkata, 12 October 2026: Suraksha Diagnostics Limited has strengthened access to advanced diagnostic imaging in Kolkata with the introduction of its state-of-the-art MRI and CT scanning capabilities at Mukundapur. The facility features the uMR 780 AI-enabled 3T MRI system and the uCT 780 160-slice CT scanner, aimed at supporting doctors with detailed diagnostic information while improving the overall scanning experience for patients.
The newly introduced MRI system combines advanced imaging technology with features designed to address common patient concerns, including scanning time, noise and discomfort during examinations. Its AI-assisted Compressed Sensing (ACS) technology helps accelerate image acquisition, potentially reducing the time patients need to remain still. The QScan feature reduces acoustic noise in supported scanning sequences, while SuperFlex coils are designed to provide a more comfortable fit during examinations.
For medical professionals, the 3-tesla MRI system and its dedicated coils enable detailed imaging across different body regions. Its DeepRecon deep-learning technology helps reduce image noise and improve the visibility of anatomical structures, supporting radiologists in interpreting scans and assisting doctors with diagnosis, treatment planning and follow-up care.
The uCT 780 160-slice CT scanner further enhances the centre’s diagnostic capabilities, particularly in cardiac imaging. The system supports detailed visualisation of coronary arteries, with rapid scanning and cardiac phase-selection tools helping capture images of the moving heart. Dedicated analytical tools assist radiologists in assessing coronary narrowing and plaque. Its DELTA deep-learning reconstruction technology helps reduce image noise and supports dose optimisation, with scanning protocols tailored to individual patient requirements. The scanner can also be used for chest and abdominal examinations, catering to a broad range of clinical needs.
Speaking on the development, Dr. Somnath Chatterjee, Chairman and Managing Director of Suraksha Diagnostics Limited, said that the investment at Mukundapur reflects the organisation’s commitment to bringing advanced diagnostic services closer to patients in Kolkata. He emphasised that the focus extends beyond technological advancement to include patient comfort and the quality of diagnostic information available to doctors.
Ms. Ritu Mittal, CEO of Suraksha Diagnostics Limited, highlighted the importance of addressing patients’ concerns about scanning duration, noise and positioning comfort. She noted that the new facility combines technologies designed to make MRI examinations more manageable with advanced imaging tools that help radiologists examine anatomical details, strengthening the role of diagnostic services in clinical decision-making.
The media interaction also highlighted the growing importance of preventive healthcare, particularly in breast health and cardiac care. Coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the discussion emphasised the need for greater awareness, attention to relevant symptoms and family history, and timely medical consultation and appropriate diagnostic investigations.
With this investment, Suraksha Diagnostics aims to expand access to advanced imaging services in Kolkata and its surrounding areas. By combining modern diagnostic technology, clinical expertise and a patient-focused approach, the organisation seeks to support accurate clinical assessment and informed healthcare decisions.
