Kolkata, August 27, 2026: Raksha Bandhan took on a deeper meaning at SPK Jain Futuristic Academy, as students stepped beyond the traditional family celebrations to honour the brave personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
As part of the special initiative, students visited the NDRF and tied handmade rakhis to NDRF personnel, expressing gratitude towards those who dedicate themselves to protecting lives and communities, often while staying away from their own families.
The programme was graced by Mr. Santosh Thakur, Assistant Commandant, NDRF, whose presence added significance to the students’ heartfelt gesture.
For the students, the handmade rakhis represented much more than a festive tradition. They became a symbol of respect, gratitude and appreciation for the courage and dedication of NDRF personnel.
The interaction also gave students an opportunity to understand the responsibilities and sacrifices associated with disaster-response operations. Meeting the personnel behind the uniform helped them appreciate the values of courage, duty, compassion and service to society.
