In the spiritually uplifting atmosphere of the holy month of Ramadan, a grand annual Iftar gathering was organized by the Howrah Wholesale Fish Market, bringing together traders, community leaders, and local residents in a remarkable display of unity and brotherhood. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of people who came together to observe the sacred spirit of Ramadan.
According to the organizers, the event was held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at around 5:00 PM, where elaborate arrangements were made for the fasting participants. The gathering created a warm and welcoming environment where people from different communities sat together to break their fast, reflecting the true essence of harmony, compassion, and communal solidarity that the holy month promotes.
Speaking on the occasion, Market Secretary Syed Anwar Maqsood warmly welcomed all the attendees and described the event as a wonderful example of communal harmony and social unity. He emphasized that such initiatives strengthen bonds among people and create a sense of shared responsibility and respect within society.
Dr. Sujoy Chakraborty, former Chairman of the Howrah Municipal Corporation, also addressed the gathering and praised the organizers for hosting such a meaningful event. Abdul Qaiyum Ansari, President of the Central Howrah Trinamool Congress Minority Cell, highlighted the significance of Ramadan, describing it as a month of mercy, blessings, compassion, and service to humanity. Several prominent personalities were also present at the gathering, including former councillor Riaz Ahmed and former councillor Mohammad Rustam, along with other distinguished guests, traders, and community members.
