Celebrating the evolving spirit of home cooking, Kaberi’r Rannaghar, a soulful Bengali cookbook by Kaberi Biswas, was formally unveiled in Kolkata, marking the beginning of a three-part culinary series published by Prajnaa Publication. The series aims to introduce international cuisines through a distinctly Bengali culinary perspective.
The launch event witnessed the presence of eminent personalities from the fields of publishing, hospitality, food entrepreneurship and corporate leadership, lending warmth and gravitas to the occasion. The book was released in the esteemed presence of Subrata Dutta, Trustee and Managing Director of The George Telegraph Group; Indrajit Lahiri, Founder of Foodka Consulting & Foodka Academy; Tridib Kumar Chatterjee, Hon’ble General Secretary of the Publishers & Booksellers Guild; Sudhangshu Sekhar Dey, President of the Guild; renowned chefs Palak Chatterjee and Jayanta Banerjee; Rajiv Paul, Founder of Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor; Tanmoy Banerjee, Founder and Managing Director of RT Network Solutions Pvt. Ltd.; and Sekhar C. Biswas, Managing Director of Kaberi Construction Pvt. Ltd. and Hon. General Secretary of the West Bengal Badminton Association, among others.
What sets Kaberi’r Rannaghar apart is its fresh and thoughtful approach to cooking. The book focuses on Continental, Chinese, Parsi, Afghani and other global cuisines, carefully curated and adapted for everyday home kitchens. The first edition features salads, snacks and select chicken recipes, consciously aligning with modern lifestyles and growing health awareness, while deliberately moving away from traditional Bengali staples to offer readers something contemporary and distinctive.
The inspiration behind the book stems from Kaberi Biswas’s lifelong passion for cooking, nurtured since childhood under her mother’s guidance and later refined through professional culinary training. Encouraged by her family, especially her husband, she transformed her personal collection of recipes into this publication after nearly seven months of dedicated effort.
Speaking at the launch, Kaberi Biswas said, “This book was born from my kitchen and my heart. I have always believed that food has the power to connect cultures. Through Kaberi’r Rannaghar, I wanted to share flavours that go beyond borders yet feel homely and familiar.”
Beyond writing and cooking, Kaberi Biswas is also actively associated with sports and community initiatives. She currently serves as Trustee and Honorary Treasurer of the Star Badminton Academy, Harinavi, an international badminton academy.
More than a recipe book, Kaberi’r Rannaghar reflects years of experimentation, creativity and a deep love for food. As the first title in a three-part series, it sets the tone for forthcoming editions dedicated to traditional Bengali cuisine and baked delights such as cakes and cookies. With its global appeal, simple presentation and contemporary outlook, the book beautifully celebrates the joy of cooking and the comfort of home kitchens—one flavour at a time.
