Teresa Hospital Walkathon Showcases Advanced Orthopaedic Care in Rural Bengal

West Bengal, Champadanga:
Teresa Hospital, Champadanga, organised a special Walkathon to celebrate mobility, recovery and the expanding reach of advanced orthopaedic care in rural Bengal. The event brought together recovered orthopaedic patients, doctors and healthcare professionals in a powerful demonstration of patient-centric and community-focused healthcare.

The initiative was led by renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Ardhendu Sekhar Pandit and supported by Meril Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. Patients who had successfully recovered from various orthopaedic conditions participated enthusiastically, many walking alongside Dr. Pandit while sharing inspiring stories of pain-free movement and improved quality of life.

The programme witnessed the presence of senior doctors, hospital management representatives, members of the Meril Group and the leadership team of Teresa Hospital, highlighting a strong spirit of collaboration in delivering quality healthcare.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ardhendu Sekhar Pandit stressed the importance of early diagnosis, prevention and timely treatment of arthritis and joint-related disorders. He explained, “Arthritis is not a disease by itself but a symptom caused by multiple factors. Our focus is to prevent its progression through proper medication, physiotherapy and lifestyle changes, and to guide patients appropriately when joint replacement becomes necessary.”

Dr. Pandit also highlighted modern advancements such as robotic-assisted knee and hip replacement surgeries, which ensure greater precision, faster recovery and improved long-term outcomes. He underlined the vital role of physiotherapy, regular exercise, calcium and vitamin D supplementation, along with guided yoga, in maintaining long-term joint health.

Over the past one-and-a-half years, Teresa Hospital has emerged as a trusted centre for advanced orthopaedic care in the region, significantly reducing the need for patients from surrounding rural areas to travel to Kolkata for treatment. The walkathon reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to making advanced, compassionate and accessible orthopaedic care available at the grassroots level, with patient satisfaction standing as its strongest testament.
