
Kolkata, 31 October 2025:
The India Research Tour 2025—a groundbreaking national initiative by Springer Nature in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Government of India—made an inspiring stop in Kolkata, celebrating research excellence and innovation across four of the city’s most prestigious institutions: IIM Calcutta, Jadavpur University, ISI Kolkata, and Adamas University.
Spanning 29 institutions across 15 cities in 7 states between 6 October and 13 November 2025, the tour aims to propel India’s research landscape forward by promoting Open Access and Open Science, enhancing research integrity, encouraging e-book adoption, and championing diversity and inclusion in academia.
Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State, Ministry of Education, remarked,
“The India Research Tour embodies the spirit of innovation and growth. Initiatives like One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) and the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) mark a historic leap for education. Our mission is to make research inclusive and globally inspiring.”
Adding to the vision, Prof. Dhananjay Singh, Member Secretary, ICSSR, emphasized,
“This tour reflects the Government’s commitment to a stronger research and innovation ecosystem built on collaboration, capacity building, and equitable access to knowledge. It promotes interdisciplinary engagement and empowers scholars to shape India’s developmental priorities.”
Highlighting the city’s academic legacy, Venkatesh Sarvasiddhi, Managing Director, Springer Nature India, said,

Next, the tour continues to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, connecting researchers, educators, and policymakers to strengthen the nation’s knowledge economy and build a culture of innovation, ethics, and collaboration.
