Kolkata’s Durga Puja is widely known for its grandeur — towering budgets, dazzling lights, and elaborate pandals. Yet, beyond the spectacle, smaller celebrations continue to thrive on simplicity, children’s laughter, handmade decorations, and heartfelt devotion. This year, Eveready Industries India Ltd. chose to support one such Puja, bringing together joy, tradition, and innovation.
In collaboration with Vikramshila Education Resource Society, Eveready sponsored the Durga Puja organised by children studying up to Class 4 at the school. To make the occasion memorable, the company created the Largest AA battery-powered remote-controlled toy truck, aptly named “Ultima Bahon.” Powered by eight Eveready Ultima AA batteries, the truck carried the idol of Goddess Durga into the Puja premises.
The Ultima Bahon was unveiled today by Anirban Banerjee, CEO, Eveready Industries India Ltd., in the presence of acclaimed Bengali actress Priyanka Sarkar, representatives from Vikramshila, and the children and teachers of the school.
“Durga Puja is a festival of joy and togetherness. With Ultima Bahon, we wanted to bring smiles to these children and give them a story they will cherish forever,” said Banerjee.
The initiative has been recognised by the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records as the largest AA battery-powered remote-controlled toy truck. Certificates were formally presented to Eveready’s leadership. The vehicle will also be showcased at the 95 Pally Puja Association for the public during the festive days.
Actress Priyanka Sarkar described the initiative as a reminder that “celebrations don’t need to be huge to be special; sometimes the simplest joys create the most unforgettable memories.” Teacher Piyali Biswas from Vikramshila added, “The Ultima Bahon is not just a record-making truck; it is a vehicle of happiness and pride for every child here.”
By bridging the contrast between grand pandals and modest celebrations, Eveready’s initiative underlines the true spirit of Durga Puja — shared happiness and pure devotion.
