: In a vibrant showcase of student-led innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, JIS Group hosted the latest edition of its flagship event, ‘Made in JIS 2025’, at the Dhano Dhanyo Auditorium, Kolkata. The event brought together some of the most promising student entrepreneurs and was graced by iconic education reformist and engineer Sonam Wangchuk, who served as Chief Guest.
Wangchuk, the visionary behind the Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL), is widely known for inspiring the character of Phunsukh Wangdu in the Bollywood hit 3 Idiots. Globally recognized for pioneering sustainable education models for mountain communities, Wangchuk’s presence added a transformative edge to the gathering.
The event also saw participation from prominent figures in India’s startup and investment ecosystem, including Aditya Arora (Angel Investor, CEO of Faad Capital, and author of Startups of Bharat), Mayank Bindal (Founder & CEO, Snap-E Cabs), and Ms. Jaspreet Kaur (Director, JIS Group).
Participants at Made in JIS 2025 presented their innovative startup ideas to an esteemed panel of judges and mentors. Select teams advanced to the grand finale, where their ideas received tangible support to help scale into viable ventures.
“Having Shri Sonam Wangchuk amongst us was a deeply humbling and transformative experience,” said Ms. Jaspreet Kaur. “His life’s work is aligned with the very values we strive to instill in our students—social responsibility, sustainability, and innovation. Made in JIS is not just an event; it’s a movement empowering the next generation of impact-driven leaders.”

She added that the 2025 edition, building on the momentum of previous years, once again demonstrated the power of young minds when nurtured in the right ecosystem.
With its continued success, ‘Made in JIS’ remains a premier platform dedicated to transforming student ideas into scalable and socially conscious ventures.
