Bengal Short Film Festival 2025 Set to Celebrate New-Age Cinema in Kolkata

Kolkata, 19 May 2025 — The cultural heart of Eastern India is set to host a cinematic celebration as the Bengal Short Film Festival 2025 gears up to unfold at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata, from 23rd to 25th May 2025. Organized by Today’s Story News, the festival promises a vibrant showcase of 50 outstanding short films and documentaries from across India and beyond.

With the theme “New Voices, New Visions,” this year’s edition aims to create a dynamic platform for young filmmakers, storytellers, and creative professionals to present their work to a broader audience. The festival will feature a wide array of events, including exclusive masterclasses, film appreciation sessions, and panel discussions with notable directors, industry experts, and academicians.

The initiative, driven by Today’s Story News — a leading digital news platform known for its cultural and journalistic contributions — continues its tradition of celebrating creativity and nurturing emerging talents.

This year’s festival will also pay tribute to pioneering Indian cinema figures — Sri Hiralal Sen and Debaki Kumar Bosu, honoring their lasting impact on the cinematic heritage of Bengal.

Prominent names from the Bengali film industry including Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Koushik Ganguly, Paoli Dam, Chaiti Ghoshal, and Debleena Dutta have extended their support to the festival.

Dr. Rajib Seal serves as the Chief Patron of the festival, with Ms. Nupur Roy taking on the role of Festival Director.
