Kolkata: In a major crackdown on counterfeit mosquito repellent products, West Bengal Police, in coordination with Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), conducted a series of raids across Kolkata and South 24 Parganas targeting retailers allegedly dealing in fake Goodknight LV products.
The enforcement action, supported by GCPL’s investigation agency, marks a significant step toward curbing the circulation of counterfeit household insecticide products in the region. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police teams raided multiple retail and stocking points suspected of distributing duplicate goods.
Seizures in Kolkata
A key raid was carried out at S. Nawaz Stores, located at 7, R.G. Kar Road, Shyambazar, where officials seized counterfeit Godrej Goodknight Flash LV twin refills. The recovery included:
- 7 carton boxes containing 120 boxes each (1,680 pieces)
- 1 carton box containing 11 boxes (22 pieces)
The scale of seizure indicated the presence of an organised counterfeit distribution operation.

Company Statement
Commenting on the development, Ashwin Moorthy, Chief Marketing Officer, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, stated that the proliferation of counterfeit FMCG products remains a serious industry concern. He emphasised that duplicate or look-alike mosquito repellents are not only illegal but also pose potential health hazards to consumers.
He further noted that GCPL continues to invest significantly in product innovation and quality assurance, with Goodknight being a market leader in the household insecticide segment. He added that the joint action with West Bengal Police sends a strong deterrent message to counterfeit manufacturers, distributors, and retailers.
