Kolkata, April 13, 2026: Vikram Solar has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 10 gigawatts (GW) in cumulative global solar module deployments, underscoring its growing influence in India’s and the world’s clean energy transition.
Powering Millions, Doubling Growth
The 10 GW deployment—equivalent to over 25 million solar modules—is now capable of powering more than 5 million Indian homes. Notably, the company doubled its capacity from 5 GW to 10 GW in just two years, highlighting strong demand and sustained growth momentum.
Driving India’s Solar Expansion
India’s solar sector has witnessed rapid expansion, recently crossing the 150 GW capacity mark. Vikram Solar has played a key role in this transformation, leveraging nearly two decades of manufacturing expertise to deliver high-performance solar solutions at scale.
Expanding Global Footprint
While India remains its primary market, Vikram Solar has steadily strengthened its international presence, with around 1.5 GW of exports spanning 39 countries. This achievement positions the company among a select group of global solar manufacturers with a diversified footprint.
Innovation at the Core
The company’s journey is marked by technological leadership—from contributing to the world’s first fully solar-powered airport in Cochin to pioneering floating solar projects in India. Recognitions such as inclusion in BloombergNEF’s Tier 1 list, consistent rankings in the KIWA PVEL reliability scorecard, and the EcoVadis ‘Platinum’ rating reflect its strong commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability.
Scaling Manufacturing and Future Vision
Vikram Solar currently has 9.5 GW of manufacturing capacity across West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, including a state-of-the-art 5 GW facility in Vallam. As part of its expansion strategy, the company plans to scale its Gangaikondan facility to 6 GW modules and 12 GW cell capacity.
Further strengthening its future roadmap, Vikram Solar is entering the energy storage segment through its platform VSL Powerhive, with a planned 5 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility by FY27, alongside its lithium battery brand VION for residential and mobility solutions.
Leadership Perspective
Chairman and Managing Director Gyanesh Chaudhary stated that crossing the 10 GW milestone reflects the accelerating pace of global solar adoption. He emphasized the company’s continued focus on advanced technologies, manufacturing scale, and integration to support a resilient and sustainable energy future.
With strong domestic leadership, expanding global reach, and a forward-looking strategy, Vikram Solar continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the next phase of the global clean energy revolution.
