The Scindia School Old Boys’ Association (SOBA) successfully hosted the Second Edition of its Presidents’ Conclave in Kolkata from January 9 to 11, 2026, bringing together Presidents and senior representatives from India and overseas chapters for a three-day strategic dialogue on alumni-led institution building.
The conclave marked a significant milestone in SOBA’s 66-year journey, reaffirming its commitment to institutional stewardship, leadership development, and meaningful alumni engagement in strengthening one of India’s most iconic educational institutions — The Scindia School.
SOBA is the official alumni body of the 128-year-old Scindia School, with over 7,000 registered alumni and 33 chapters across India and globally, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, Singapore, and Dubai. It is widely regarded as one of the country’s most active and service-oriented school alumni networks.
Focus on Education Policy, Leadership and Institutional Growth
Deliberations during the conclave focused on India’s evolving education policies, nurturing future-ready leaders, and advancing long-term initiatives to support the School’s academic and institutional growth. A key highlight was the announcement of a landmark initiative to establish a Planetarium at The Scindia School, reinforcing its legacy of experiential, inquiry-driven and science-led learning.
Leadership Speaks
Mr. Ajay Singh, Principal, The Scindia School, said:
“The Scindia School’s strength lies in the continuity of values across generations. Our alumni remain deeply invested in the School’s growth, and initiatives emerging from SOBA reflect a shared commitment to holistic, future-ready education. Such engagement reinforces the enduring bond between the School and its alumni.”
Mr. Mitul Dikshit, President, SOBA, emphasised:
“SOBA’s strength comes from collective leadership and a shared sense of responsibility among Scindians worldwide. Our focus goes beyond nostalgia — we are committed to institution-building, social impact, and supporting The Scindia School in ways that are meaningful, sustainable, and aligned with its values.”
Hosting the conclave in Kolkata, Mr. Arun Kumar Bhagat, President, SOBA Kolkata Chapter, noted:
“The Presidents’ Conclave reflects the depth and maturity of SOBA as an organisation. It serves as a platform for dialogue, alignment and collective decision-making, ensuring alumni efforts across chapters remain impactful and purpose-driven.”
Mr. Darshan Dudhoria, SOBA Member, Former Headboy of The Scindia School and CEO, Indian Silk House Agencies, added:
“The Scindia School instils values that stay with you long after you leave the classroom. The Presidents’ Conclave is a reminder of how strongly alumni remain connected to the institution and committed to contributing to its future.”
Pride in Distinguished Alumni and Social Impact
The conclave also reaffirmed pride in the School’s distinguished alumni, including Mr. Vikram Misri, Foreign Secretary, Government of India; Mr. Rajendra S. Pawar, Padma Bhushan awardee and Founder of NIIT Ltd.; Mr. Ashok Gajapathi Raju; and filmmaker Mr. Anurag Kashyap, among others who have made notable contributions to public life.
Under the guidance of its Board led by HH Maharaja Jyotiraditya Scindia, The Scindia School continues to nurture ethical, globally minded citizens. Its enduring traditions — including Astachal, the daily practice of meditation and self-reflection — remain integral to its ethos. This philosophy of service before self is reflected in SOBA-led initiatives such as scholarships for deserving students, medical and educational support, blood donation drives, eye check-up camps, wheelchair donations at railway stations, and national-level advocacy for organ donation.
Through sustained engagement and responsible alumni leadership, SOBA continues to honour the legacy of The Scindia School while contributing meaningfully to education, industry, culture, and society.
