Pathak Manch (Kolkata), a prominent literary and cultural forum established in 2022, marked its third foundation day with a thought-provoking seminar focused on the legacy and journey of Hindi journalism in Kolkata. The event, held on May 30, coincided with the historical date of publication of Udant Martand, the first Hindi newspaper, which was launched on this day in 1826.
The seminar, titled (Hindi Journalism in Kolkata: A 200-Year Perspective), aimed to explore the historical significance, evolution, and future of Hindi journalism in the region. Speakers and participants reflected on two centuries of Hindi media presence in the city and discussed contemporary challenges and opportunities.
A special tribute was paid to Udant Martand, highlighting its foundational role in the development of Hindi media. The event was attended by journalists, writers, academicians, and readers from across Kolkata and beyond.
Pathak Manch, since its inception, has been dedicated to promoting literary culture, reader engagement, and intellectual dialogue, and this year’s foundation day celebration further reinforced its commitment to these values.
