
Kolkata, September 5, 2025: The city is gearing up for the 10th edition of the JBG Kolkata Marathon, one of Kolkata’s premier running festivals, scheduled to take place on November 30, 2025, at Red Road, Maidan. Organised by Sportiz and proudly titled by Jai Balaji Group, the event is expected to witness participation from more than 15,000 runners across categories, making it the largest edition yet.
The milestone edition, unveiled at an exclusive launch at The Lalit Great Eastern, Kolkata, marks a significant shift to Red Road, offering runners a world-class experience against the city’s most iconic backdrop. The marathon will also support Indian Para Athletes ahead of the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi (Sept 27 – Oct 5, 2025).
Fitness icon Milind Soman and his wife Ankita Konwar will continue as brand ambassadors, inspiring citizens to adopt fitness as a way of life.
Race Categories
The 2025 edition introduces a 21.1K Half Marathon, in addition to the popular Elite 10K, Open 10K, 5K Cosplay Run, and Special Heroes categories. The six categories are:
- Elite 10K – Invitation/qualification-based professional race
- Half Marathon (21.1K) – Open to runners aged 18+
- Open 10K – Timed race for amateur runners aged 13+
- 5K – Feels Like Joy Run (JBG Enduro 101) – Non-timed, fun run for 13+
- Special Heroes 3K – For individuals with disabilities (with companion support)
- Cosplay Run – Fun run for participants dressed as their favourite characters

The launch event was attended by dignitaries including Mr. Aditya Jajodia (MD & Chairman, Jai Balaji Group), Mr. Devendra Jhajharia (President, Paralympic Committee of India), and Mr. Rahul Swami (CEO, PCI).

- Mariyappan Thangavelu – 3-time Paralympic Medallist (High Jump)
